We ended up:

• painting the entire bathroom
• stripping the old 5 layers of paint off of the vanity (the wood thing underneath the counter top) and then sanding it down
• painting the vanity
• getting a new granite countertop
• buying a new brushed aluminum faucet and matching fixtures
• removing the old mirror that took up the entire wall and replacing with a nice framed mirror
• Redoing the plumbing underneath the sink (it was all old and nasty)

It took us 2 weeks and we were barely able to finish it one hour before family came over for Elise’s birthday party.

I think Infiniti was trying to fix that with their 2010 update.  I’m glad they tried to make it look more sporty but I’m torn – now it looks too much like a cheaper Maxima or Altima.  I’m not sold on the new M37 design either.

They put a spring/damper combo on it, too.  I wonder how that will work?  There’s only one way to find out!  If anything, it will protect those taillights at least!  Haha!

Edit:  I just had an afterthought.  They should just put a tire and some Baja style off-roading suspension on it.  Then Joon can throw that car straight into the wall at 80mph and keep going.

This is from Drift Day 9… LAS VEGAS! I drove my car there in the hellish heat with no a/c. We all remember that drive as one of the worst drives we ever made in our cars.  Read my blog post about the vegas drift event.

Drift Day 11 at Irwindale. This was my favorite look for my car... standard front silvia bumper with oem side skirts, oem rear unders and wangan spoiler. I liked my stickers like that as well.

Last week Nadine decided that she wanted to paint the walls our guest bathroom on her day off.  That project turned into 2 days… which has turned into buying a ton of supplies, a new granite counter top, new faucet, decorations, and it is still not done.

It really is hard to find enough time in the day.  Last night, I got home from work and went straight to cooking dinner.  We ate and then I drove to Home Depot for some plumbing supplies.  I got home, started to work on the plumbing for our new sink and found out I bought the wrong stuff.  I drove back to Home Depot and go the right stuff and went back home to finish the plumbing.  After that was fixed, I started to paint our cabinets.  Then I cleaned up my hands real quick and started dinner for the next night.  While the food was cooking, I took a shower and went to the computer to finish working on the hosting transfer for Koyo.  I finished cooking and THEN I actually had some time to relax and watch TV before going to sleep… 1 hour!

How do I get up at 7am and then do stuff non stop until 11pm???  I can’t wait till all the work is done and I can go back to my 7am-9:30pm routine!

Even though I am complaining, it’s really not that bad.  I think the idea of doing our first big project on the house is pretty cool.  I’m excited to see how the bathroom is going to turn out.  It’s a lot like the feeling of excitement of getting a new part and putting it in your car, except it’s a lot more about expressing personal taste.  Oh yeah, and it actually pays off to invest money into a house! Haha!

According to C.A.R.B., you are not allowed to use race fuel in a street legal car.  If it’s using race fuel, then it’s a race car – and race cars aren’t allowed to drive on the street.  They’ll be enforcing this by monitoring the people who sell the race fuel… sellers are required to get information from you regarding the car you are purchasing the fuel for, such as vehicle owner, vehicle make/model, VIN, race event info, date of the event, etc.

All this money and time you are spending on this, so that you can crack down on the people who make up less than 1% of California’s drivers?  What a huge waste of money and state resources!  This is just like those random smog checks they put up on the roads… they tow out a big dyno setup and randomly pick cars from the street to get checked.  Not only do they increase traffic (and pollution) by taking out a lane for their dyno, they are also catching cars that our 2 year smog requirement will catch anyways!  Are you guys idiots?  Waste much?  The state would make a much better contribution to our environment by getting cops out of souped up Crown Vics and Dodge Chargers and putting them in a environmentally friendly car.  It also wouldn’t hurt to teach police offers about acceleration control – I see cops flooring it all the time!

Maybe it’s time to start looking into things like water injection… C.A.R.B., there’s always a way around it.

But now that I’m living the life of an old man with wife, kids, car payments, mortgage, I really appreciate that this day exists.  Life gets so busy with things that you have to do that it’s so easy to lose touch with the woman that basically started it all.  Valentine’s day pretty much forced me to take a break from everything and just focus on me and Nadine, which was a very much welcomed break.

For dinner we went to the new Bouchon in Beverly Hills, where our old friend Jeff is the Executive Pastry Sous Chef.  The weather was perfect for dining outdoors, so we were seated on the balcony with a view of the beautiful Montage hotel across the way, and ADAM SANDLER at the table directly to my left!  (Quick interruption to comment on Adam Sandler – the guy is REAL… he is exactly like he is in the movies – friendly to everybody, calls people “buddy”, and he was wearing a raggedy t-shirt, sweatpants, and one of those old school vest jackets. )

I started off with my favorite – salmon rillettes (Rillettes aux Deux Saumons).  Rillettes is like an old form of preserving meat by cooking it in its own fat, heavily salting it and cramming it in a sealed jar.  I think doing this with salmon is a break from the traditional rillettes, but it’s so good!  It’s a combination of fresh and smoked salmon and they serve it with some warm croutons made from baguettes from their bakery.

Next I had a frisee salad (Frisée aux Lardons et Oeuf Poché).  This is a salad made with frisee leaves, lardons, a bacon vinaigrette, a poached egg and toasted brioche.  BEST SALAD I’VE EVER HAD.  Lardons is my new love… it’s like bacon times 20.

For the main course I decided to try their leg of lamb (Gigot d’Agneau).  I am still a lamb rookie, as the only lamb I’ve had before this was rack of lamb and some Irish lamb stew.  The lamb here was by far the least gamy preparation I’ve ever tasted and it was cooked at a perfectly tender medium.  I was feeling adventurous when I ordered this… otherwise I would have gotten the braised short ribs.  I promised myself I’d try that next time.

For Nadine’s main course, she ordered the tried and true Steak Frites.  It’s a flat iron steak covered in carmlized shallots and an herb butter.  Oh yeah and it comes with fries.  This is also what Adam Sandler ordered.

We ended the night with an off the menu cheese plate and a special 4 course dessert made by our friend Jeff in the kitchen for us.  When I have time, I’ll dig up some of the pictures of the dessert… Jeff told us all he did all day at work was prepare our dessert courses.  What a swell guy!

The website says to figure out if it works in your garage, add the height of your two cars plus 6 inches and if that fits in your garage, you’re golden!  Gotta get my hands on one of these!
