Our Work wheels finally arrived!

Picking out offsets were kinda hairy because nobody really had any setups that I liked. Wheels too thin, staggered wheels aren’t staggered the way I like, tires are too wide – I like the way the car handles from the factory… there’s plenty of grip, steering feels good, and acceleration is quick. I wanted to maintain that with the new setup.

So I went with a 20×9.5 in the front and a 20×10.5 in the rear. Factory tires are 225 front and 245 rear, and these new Falken FK452s are 245 front and 255 rear. I didn’t want such a wide front tire, but available tire sizes in 20 are limited. Besides, this way I get to keep a 35 profile tire both in front and rear and the wheel+tire diameter is VERY close to stock, so it doesn’t mess with the speedo or the traction control.

All in all, I’m pretty happy… the Falken tires aren’t as nice as the OEM Bridgestone tires, but the Falken tires will last longer because of the treadwear rating. The car’s ride is a little more harsh, but it’s livable. I’m really liking that the wheels don’t look too large on the car and that the car still looks pretty subtle. A lot of times, 20 inch wheels scream at you from a mile away. I think you could walk by this car and not even notice it.

Oh one complaint – I should have gotten lower offset fronts… time to buy some spacers!

Thanks Kyle for taking photos for me!

So I read an article about Kanye West opening up 10 Fatburgers in the Chicago area! Maybe this is like trading players in sports teams. We get Chicago’s Portillo’s and you guys get our Fatburger. I think we got the better end of the deal, but Fatburger is still really good!

Many people complain about Fatburger not being so great, but this is the reason why – because you’re not ordering it right!

A Fatburger MUST HAVE:
-Type of patty is up to you. I actually really like the turkey burger.
-A fried egg
-Bacon
-Cheese

If you can do that, you will be a very happy fat person with a heart condition.

When Simba was here visiting, he was commenting on how I have Chicago music in my car (Common, Kanye, Lupe Fiasco)… and my reply was along the lines of how I don’t like much new music, and for some reason the new music that I do like, comes out of Chicago.

He posted The Pharcyde as an example of a good west coast artist. I love the Pharcyde, and I busted out my old Bizarre Ride II album and have been listening to it everyday for the past 2 weeks straight. This got me thinking about other old west coast artists that I really like.

I was gonna post Xzibit, but I just heard these guys on my iPod and I couldn’t pass up sharing the nostalgia.

Dilated Peoples – Worst Comes to Worst

I have this weird thing… I don’t like driving down crazy inclines or over bridges. My palms get all sweaty, my heart races, and I get crazy nervous. It’s weird, and I cannot help it. It’s like my weird thing with the sound of crushing/scraping ice. Don’t ask… that story is for another day.

Anyway, MSNBC has this new feature called Bridge Tracker. It basically allows you to view bridges along your commute so that you can see inspection results and general info like average traffic. Look at the page showing the route from San Francisco, CA to San Rafael, CA. Look at all the bridge points that say “Functionally Obsolete”!!!! Just great MSNBC, do you want me to never drive on a bridge ever again?!
