R.I.P. Guru

I just heard the news that Guru passed away yesterday of cancer.  He’s for sure at the top of my list when it comes to my favorite rappers and is one of the reasons why I even listen to Hip-Hop.

I was thinking about that time when Guru was robbed in front of his studio and decided to read up on that again… in the article, he mentioned that he wasn’t rich and never went platinum.  It’s weird how the world works, isn’t it?  How can an artist be so talented, so unique and so influential to a culture and so many people… but on paper, doesn’t come close to having the financial success of a group like Danity Kane?  That’s ass backwards if you ask me.

Nadine mentioned this guy to me back when imeem was still around.  He’s Roc Nation’s (Jay-Z) first signed artist.  I’ve been listening to him ever since.

Jay-Z signed him after hearing this track:

No albums released yet, but you can download his mix tape The Warm Up.

Her new album – Soldier of Love
