Working on my car to get ready for Speed Trial on Nov 11. I’ve got lots to do. Rebuild my calipers, new rear rotors, install my brake lines, new steering rack, tie rod ends, front lower control arms, lsd… and those are the big things only. Oh well, I will be getting my first pay check this week, so things should look better for me. Sorry about the crappy picture on the splash page… I don’t want to waste film on my car, since it is always changing. I will get one up as soon as I put on my new front bumper.

Autocross time

Auto-X in Aneheim was fun yesterday. It was real close to my house, and I got to try some new tires… Potenza RE711’s! I got a decent time, but I was really driving way to slow. I should have pushed my car harder, but there was loose sand all over the track, and I kept understeering. I also need a new suspension set up… what I was running on was pretty bad. Also, I got some new wheels! They are gold 15×7 SSR formula mesh wheels with a +10 offset. There is a really nice polished lip on them. I am very happy. Also, I picked up a new bumper too… AB-Flug. It is a very popular bumper in Japan for drifters. Just gotta get it painted! Oh yea, I picked up a hollow cat too, from a ’94-up 240sx. The reason why it is hollow is b/c the s14 actually has its cat in the header… the cat after the header is actually a dummy one, just for visual inspection. I need some new tires up front for daily driving… I don’t want to waste my RE711’s on the public road. I’ll probably get another set of RE71’s. Those tires are great too. Any tire sponsors out there?? Drive safetly everybody.

If you were curious, I calculated my gas mileage yesterday, after driving freeway miles for 180 miles. I get 27.5 miles per gallon, cruising at 85mph most of the time, and ocassionally getting up to 110.

New stuff

Lesson of the day… Don’t ride on 50 series tires if you would like to keep your Blitz nur-spec muffler intact. I am constantly scraping, and I’m waiting for the day I get my exhaust leak. Anyway, this weekend I’m going to see if my friend’s hollow cat fits my car… it will if it is from an s14. If what my friend says is true, my boost should go up a bit. Also, I’m gonna try to wire up all the unwired stuff on my car: turn signals on my corner lenses, foglights in the center, and boost gauge. I might even take off my dash and install my jdm gauge cluster. We’ll see. I only have saturday to do all of this.

I purchased and installed new tension rods last weekend… installed em, and I feel safer now. However, there is still a popping noise when I turn hard or drift. I wonder what it is… I also fixed my power window… it was a solder that went bad in the power window relay. So I soldered it, and everything is fine. Washed my car and waxed it… I’m feeling a lot better about my car now. My next project… find new suspension. I think I have enough saved up for coilovers. I hope to get an LSD soon also. Oh yea, I wanna install a ’94-up 240sx catalytic converter. They are hollow, since the ’94-up 240sx’s had the cat on the header, hence the cat after the header is completely hollow, and is there just for looks.

Vacuum leaks

I was checking my vacuum hoses today for the boost leak when I noticed that although one of my intercooler pipes was still on, it was loose. So I fixed it, and it’s on securely now. The only problem now is that I don’t if it is the heat that is causing the loss of power, or if I still have a leak somewhere else. Anybody know anything about power windows?
