Logan showed me this video a while back, but I’ve recently been listening to Beyonce’s new album 4. So far 1+1 is my favorite song on the album, and it just so happens that this video of her is equally amazing.

According to the video description, Jay-Z took this video on his iPhone. No amped mic, no reverb. All Beyonce.  Awesome.

Update: Logan just showed me another good Beyonce video. Video description says that she was visiting Jay-Z’s mom and decided to join in on the fun with some neighbors.

MIA

I’ve totally been MIA on this blog!  I’ve been thinking about why I’ve just not had any desire to blog lately, and here are a few reasons:

  1. Social media sites like Twitter and Facebook make it all too easy to micro-blog and post a quick feeling or idea rather than actually write something. (I’m lazy)
  2. I’m getting older and I’m realizing that the details of my life should probably be more private as to protect the privacy of my family. (I’m being an overprotective dad)
  3. The public things I might want to share, I end up not because I figure that you could find it on the internet anyways.  I’m also undecided if I want this blog to be one of those where I share things or if I want to create original content.  Or both? (I’m confused)
  4. I’m uninspired. (I’m uninspired)

I definitely want to keep this blog going, seeing that I’ve kept it going for what… 11 years now?

I wish there was an easier way to merge Twitter, Facebook and this blog.

I received a message a couple weeks ago that my friend’s mom had a brain aneurysm and passed away suddenly and without warning.  Shortly after, I learned that another friend’s mom passed away due to finding cancer in it’s advanced stages.  Yesterday, I found out that a friend’s mom passed away suddenly due to a heart attack.

Our friends and family won’t be here with us forever.  Cherish them, appreciate them and let them know what they mean to you.  Don’t take them for granted.

Alexi from NoriYaro.com posted some old pictures of Hachiroku Day 2010.

Look at this amazing piece of art! I never thought that chrome/polished Watanabes would look good, but Japan has again taught me that I have no sense of style at all.

I’ve been looking at this picture all day. It makes me want to buy an AE86.

How awesome sounding is homemade pasta? Well, I made some. It wasn’t hard at all and I didn’t need one of those pasta machines. I used an old school rolling pin. First time making a ragu too.

The store bought pasta had more of a crisp bite to it, exactly how you expect al dente to be. The homemade pasta still had an al dente texture to it but it was softer, thicker (maybe due to my poor rolling pin skills) and had a spongy quality to it. The biggest difference was that the homemade pasta soaked up all the flavors of the sauce and it felt more cohesive.

Conclusion: The homemade pasta was so much better than the store bought pasta… but I don’t know if it’s because of all the time I put into it.

I was amazed at how different pressed apple juice is from the juice from concentrate. I don’t want any other apple juice now.
