Browsing Posts in Cars

Washed my car today, and my friends and I went up to touge for some photo taking. It was Ken, Antonio, Kyle, and Javierrrrr. Took some group photos, did some donuts and figure-8’s, and then a lot of drifting afterwards. Javier did really well for his first time drifting his new 86. Then he got pretty good at the end of the day, taking better drifting line, and keeping the drift much longer than he was before. Antonio got out there and started to drift too, mid 2nd gear drifts as he was learning how to side brake drift. I was out there in high 2nd gear around 50mph at least. We had a good time, and I’m really happy to see my friends get better at drifting. Plus, all their cars looked good and I’m real excited to see the film when it gets developed. I should have mine by tomorrow afternoon! Haha!

I’ve fixed the front suspension, and now I finally have negative camber… however, the camber adjustment is only compensating for the bad original (positive) camber settings… which I need to be fixed via an alignment job. Once I do that, my camber settings will be much more accurate and even. Now I feel that I must be able to adjust the rear camber as well… more suspension parts? *sigh*

I finally installed my Tein upper pillo mounts today (front only). Thanks to the help of Kyle, one of my springs are seated wrong. Hahaha! Just kidding Bile. Well, I have to take it out tomorrow and redo it. My 180sexy also fixed the fuse for me, so that I could use the air compressor… or I would have sat there cussing to myself in the darkness. So I’ve got some decent camber out of the passenger side, but 0 degrees on the drivers side. Real good job, asshole.

Took the car and out to the beach today with my baby and got some nice pictures… right now I’ve got all 4 SSR mesh on, and I think it looks pretty cool! I am Nadine and Antonio approved. I’m also testing out the Mine’s VX-ROM for a friend… not too much improvement, but then again, my car is barely tuned with an exhaust system and air cleaner. I will play with it longer and figure it out… I freaking had crystals and paper airplanes in my rear seat!!! Bumblebee, why you move your car like that? Oh yeah, I’m actually pretty decent at doing donuts… I can almost keep my front wheel planted in place.

Curb Damage

It’s been so long since I’ve updated this. I’m using a set of Sabelt seatbelt harnesses. It is a really big improvement, since I don’t have as much strain on my body while driving touge. I can concentrate more on driving instead of trying to keep myself in my seat. However I still need to use my legs and my knees to brace myself against the body panels of the car, because I need a racing seat. So I guess, the harnesses help out a lot, but I still need a seat. Also, I’m getting sick and tired of my suspension. I think I’m driving my car to its limits now, since I know I can’t push it any harder at touge… I’m constantly fighting the bad camber settings and soft/blown suspension now. I got hold of a Mito Natto sticker and a Hakaiou sticker, cool! I am also drifting much better now. I haven’t practiced drifting for over 3 months now, and when I did on Sunday I had real improvement. Although I am still drifting at not much faster than 45mph, I am keeping the drift much MUCH longer. I still can’t believe how good I was doing. Also, I am still trying to connect 2 drifts together, but it’s hard. I crashed while practicing… I spun out and my rear went up on the curb. No important damage, just banged the hell out of my exhaust can. Which is cool I think, since my exhaust looks rad now, and my LSD and wheels are safe. I have a different set of tires on the rear right now… Dunlop SP Sport 8000. They are very good tires! They grip really well and have a 200 treadwear rating. I just learned about heat cycles for tires, so maybe that has something to do with them gripping really well compared to other used tires I’ve used. I’m also learning how to brake drift. It’s kinda hard.

Compression tests revealed that my motor is good condition. In fact, it’s in really good condition. The fuel smell might be the result of a leaking injector. The overheating was caused by a “performance” radiator cap. Yesterday, I had my ARC blowoff valve installed. It sounds great, but I need to adjust it a bit. I am getting some compressor surge. Autocross was fun this past weekend. I believe I’ve almost figured it out. There was a lot less understeer, and a lot more oversteer and a lot more squirreling around! Which is obviously not that good, because my times were getting worse as I became more comfortable with the cones and the courseworkers. Nadine is getting pretty good. I love my MK-III wheels.
