Special Edition II: Just got Tein adjustable pallow (pilo) tension rods. Putting them in asap! Lately the drift machine has been running ohsonogood. Smelling funky, twitching, idling rough & low (“y don’t you just die”), could be a vacccuuumm leak. Overheating is still plaguing as well, but not that bad. Need to put in the new “Billion’s” aftermarket thermostat that is just chilling on the floor of my car and see what happens. Me & Benson went up to touge this morning with KyleSmyle & TakJack. Benson taught me how to do doughnuts in the Sil80. I took 3 tries and the drift machine was going KrispyKremes baby, spurting all sorts of burnt tire bits in my eye…then it overheated. We took some pictures, they should be up on the site soon. The ongoing debate as to what coilovers are worth a grand is boiling down to JIC (made in Taiwan) & Cusco comp 2. I like the Cuscos better…mainly because they’re made in Japan!!! Looks like a cute Recaro SRD seat is next. Its been a pleasure & an honor to write in this bomb journal Benson. Special Edition: entry by Benson’s Hapa180SXxy~*Nadine. Went to Speed Trials yesterday. MrSil80 wanted to tow the drift machine. What a pain…it took hours to get it up on the trailer. 3 hours of sleep, a ripped off zenki lip, and dinged up doors were the fruits of our labor. Towing it with daddy’s custom van wasn’t any easier lagging up the hills! We got there and Jav’s tires that he threw on the trailer scratched up the drift machine omg. We got to run in group C, a small group where all the drifters got to be together. But those damn RRE eclipses & some other ricejacks sneaked in and tried to throw rice on our drift sessions; can we say rude. The runs were hot. The drift machine overheated every run, only after the back laps. Weird. Thermostat prob? Coolant prob? Or maybe it was just too damn hot. 100+ degrees that day. Benson threw cute drifts every run, but mostly on the back turns, away from the crowds. Not once did he get black flagged or eat shit hard like I did on the parade lap. The cute W-10s I got him were on the front, gripped lovely, no more understeer mania jack. On the rear he had some gay “trash drift” tires. We got a lot of cute pictures from Tsuyoshi, Tak, and some of our friends in the pit~thank you guys! Super Street was there too, boy did Benson put on a show for them. We had a great time. Congrats Jav for winning the drift contest. We loved Speed Trials, I can’t wait to drive my car next time. By then (Nov), the drift machine hopefully will have new coilovers, Recaro seats & possibly a front mount to sweeten the car life.
The brake pads work REALLY good! I’ve yet to put the rotors to the test… I’ll find out at SpeedTrial or touge by getting them nice and hot. I know my braking system has a lot of potential now… my brake pistons aren’t very easy to press, so I think once I rebuild all my calipers and change my rear rotors and pads, the car can be stopping really great. I need more wheels and tires! I fixed my exhaust leak… The gasket I made for my downpipe burned away. Boost is feeling better, and my car sounds way better too. But I can’t fix my radiator mount because Javier keeps snapping bolts in my radiator support. Jackass.
I installed the cross drilled rotors and PBR brake pads just now. I’ll let you all know how they are when I drive around in ’em tomorrow… One more thing crossed off the list! SpeedTrial is coming REAL soon!
I put a new turbo in last night… everything seems to be running pretty good. The burning oil smell is still around, but that should go away in a little while. The boost is feeling much better again… I seem to have forgotten how its SUPPOSED to feel. Other than that, it looks like I’m trying to get my stuff together again for SpeedTrial. I’ll be going on July 8th, Sunday. Most people are going Saturday but oh well.
Nadine, I like your blue flower skirt! I Took the turbo out a few days ago… the seals are horrible. There is so much play on the compressor wheel, that the fins were rubbing against the turbo housing. It looks pretty bad. Anyway, I bought a used turbo, and that should go back into the car in a little while. Who knows? Maybe I WILL make SpeedTrial. I will need tires though… any donors? I’ll also need to do a lot of work on the car to get it prepped… wish me luck.
