Ultimate Tool Co.

Okay, so I have to post again so I don’t have Clay Aiken at the top of my journal haha!

Ultimate Tool Co

So my good buddy Scott has started this new business selling unique tools from Japan – more specifically KTC Japan. Check it out – he’s got some great stuff!

Here’s some of my favs:

Color coded thin wall wheel sockets! How often do you find yourself wasting your time picking up your wheel socket looking carefully for the etched 17mm or 21mm writing? TOO LONG! I never have to look now. Genius!

Square sockets! Don’t strip the fill/drain plugs anymore on your LSD or transmission!! Just buy these and be one step ahead ahead of caveman status!

Panel popper set. I have 2 newish cars, so unlike with my s13s, I actually care if I break those stupid tabs holding my interior panels together. Scott says this is actually his best seller.

If you’re interested in any of these things, please don’t hesitate to order! He’s a personal friend of mine and I definitely vouch for him. Don’t worry about his sketchy website either – we’ll work on that pretty soon!

Work and Play

So a couple weeks ago, I had to go to Atlanta for a business trip. I was pretty stressed because I’ve never been away since Elise was born… Nadine would have to be a single parent of 2 kids for a week. We planned the best we could and with the help of Nadine’s brother and her parents, the week went OK. It was a ton of work for her but I’m glad she made it through ok. Kristy was a big help of course.

Before I left we decided to do something special as a family so we all went to the beach together. We always TRY to go to a different beach in Orange County but parking is always horrible… and we end up going to the tried and true – Crystal Cove. You pay around $7 and you are assured a safe place to park – not on a public street crammed between 2 cars.

It was Elise’s first time to the beach and she did SUPER well. She laid on her tummy and played with her toys and then she sat up with mom while I made tunnels in the sand with Kristy. She’s never made a tunnel before! What a noob!

Going to Atlanta was really hard. I missed the family everyday that I was gone.

Memorable things I got to do while in Atlanta:
Pretend that I had a grill everywhere I went.
Eating at the Waffle House – hash browns all the way. I felt HORRIBLE after eating that.
Going to an Atlanta Braves game in the all you can eat and all you can drink section. Pretending that I had a grill.

Here’s my weekend recap, told through photos and captions:

Elise is almost 5 months!

Recently, I’ve been IN LOVE with the taste of basil. For me, it was an acquired taste – I thought it had such a strong alien herby flavor but something just clicked one day.

Last night I made a dish with some shell pasta, mozzarella, basil, parmesan cheese, sauce made of tomatoes and chicken stock, and meatballs made from romano cheese, ground chicken, italian parsley, panko breadcrumbs. Italian food reminds me a lot of Chinese food in that many dishes are just different combinations of the same ingredients.

It was pretty good… and we were all full. But not as full as Elise.

Jon Sibal

So I’ve recently found my old friend Jon Sibal on the internet – not that he’s ever LEFT the internet, it’s just that we kind of lost touch over the years, as he got married and I got married and got into drifting and stuff. Anyways, Jon has always been a really impressive artist, being heavily involved as an inker for some big name comic books (here’s an example of his work). Recently, he’s been doing a lot of impressive automotive photoshops where he’ll take a photo of a stock car, and somehow transforms it into a scene from a movie.

Here’s what he did for a Scion competition (which he won):

Well I was just browsing and admiring his work and this totally jumped out at me. He made a portrait of his wife using words that he associates with her. I was so blown away by this portrait, which is a pretty big deal because I’m always so amazed at his work anyway. What an awesome job, Jon! I just had to share with everybody. Build a studio to showcase your talent already!

Visit Jon’s diviantART site where he posts his recent works.

Or, you can go to his blog and read him ramble on and on about European cars that break down 3 years after you buy them and are worth the same amount as used Acuras.

Elise slept for 6.5 hours last night and woke me up just in time so that I could feed her before going to work. Getting to spend time with the baby after getting a good night’s rest is an awesome way to start my day. I’m ready for the rest of you, work week!!
