What the hell is with the date today? Anyway, Buttonwillow Raceway this weekend!! It’s a drift event… and Hiroshi Takahashi will be there from Running Free Japan. So here’s the to-do list that I always show you guys everytime there is an event coming up… Tires: I’m waiting on my W-10’s from Tirerack.com to come in tomorrow afternoon… I just picked out some used Michelin drifting tires at this cool little tire shop next to my house – the guy that works there is way cool. I also need to change my LSD oil, fuel filter, and belts… Other than that, everything seems okay. I’m surprised, because there’s not much to do this time… It’s comforting when your car runs great before an event. Oh yeah… I got a job! It’s a crappy one… but hey, it’s money. It will hold me down until things get better. Anyway, hope to see some of you at the event!

Did some more driving last weekend… the car is holding up great! The only problem is that one of the brackets from my downpipe broke… and now the two pieces that used to be joined are now rattling and it sounds like my car is falling apart. I wish I knew how to weld. Also last night my car got a flat… for some reason all the air leaked out of my MK-III and I couldn’t fill the tire back up since all the air was leaking out of the bead… so I had to take it to a tire place that would take the valve stem piece out and fill it up with their compressor. Everything seems to be fine… strange huh? There’s a 240sx meet this weekend at Shine Street (Click for more info). That means I’ll have to risk my fingers falling off from the cold so that I can wash my car… anyway hope to see you all there!

So I did a little driving… around 7 minutes constantly at redline… and the dump pipe from my turbo to the downpipe decided to come loose. Haha! Then the head from one of the bolts decided to break off so I had to sit there and get that little nub off of the turbo for an hour. Once I got that off, I cleaned out the threads with a tap, put some lock washers on, and loctite’d my new bolts on (I love Ace Hardware). Then I changed my wheels because the tires that I had on my gold mesh were starting to scare me… Now I have the MK-III on with some nice and semi-meaty Michelin Pilots. While the wheels were off I took the liberty to try and level out my car (if you own an s13 you might know about that nasty lean the car has towards the driver’s side). I did an alright job with that… and I dialed the dampers 10 settings stiffer in the rear and the front. Nadine and I went to do some more driving… the turbo parts stayed on (yay) and the suspension felt pretty damn good. The dampers were stiff and there was very little travel in them… surprisingly, there are 20 more levels stiffer to go! Today I stopped by to visit my friends at Car Tune and Jspec.com… picked up some fun little things. I think my bank account hates me.

Upon popular demand, I am updating my journal! Haha! So the holiday season has been busy and plus me and Nadline had our 1 year anniversary to boot… I’ve been too busy to play around with my car. However, it’s been raining and after that rainy Willowsprings event, I am way comfortable with drifting in the rain… I have a good understanding of it and how the tires react. So if there is a big circle freeway onramp in your area, let me know because I love them. But don’t copy me! I’m dangerous and I wanna crash my car and die… There is a drift event up in northern California at Thunderhill… I’m thinking about going up there with my two babies (hint: one is black and one is pink). I dunno if I can make it up there sitting on that racing seat the whole time… I might just have to go without it. I washed my car the other day and did the Meguiar’s 3 step wax… I totally forgot how good my car can look when it’s all cleaned up! I even removed most of my stickers… I’m sick of them. Well, job search is sucking too… I’m gonna need money if I want to keep driving. If you’re reading this, and you know of a job opening, e-mail me! I’ll upload another video from Buttonwillow later… Happy New Years everybody!

I installed a Sparco racing seat in last night – A bucket seat… I have a whole new understanding of how my car feels now! With almost no more cushion on my ass, I can feel every little bump in the road that my chassis feels. I can turn much more agressively now too, since I don’t have to strain my body by bracing myself against my car with my knees. It’s really a strange feeling… I don’t really know how to explain it. All I know is that I can control the car much better now, since I feel like I’m one with the car instead of just a driver being thrown around in the car while trying to control it. Okay, that’s it. I think I’m going to make a trip to touge sometime soon… drive safe everybody.

Sorry to keep you guys in the dark about this past week… I went to Buttonwillow Raceway on Sunday for Speedtrial’s Drift Event! The drive there was LONG. It took us two hours driving at the minimum of 80-85mph. Anyway, when we got there, it was pretty damp out on the track… but it soon cleared up. The track was interesting… a new place for me to try and drift… I learned quickly that the track was kind of narrow, and the two inch drop from the track into the dirt wasn’t very appealing to me. And the track was FULL of those dreaded right turns! Well, I guess that was a good thing, because it forced me to get used to them… and I did. After a few run groups, the courseworkers got really mad… because the people on the track were not abiding by the course rules and not paying attention to the flags… so they confined our drifting down to one single turn. That got really sad… and I got bored of the track. But hey, the event was only $50… and I think I got my money’s worth this time… I don’t think I’ll ever go back… the track was so small.
