Ok I’m not a music expert or anything, but I like to find out who my favorite hip hop artists sample their music from.  It’s like finding out who inspires someone great or finding out who your idol’s idols are.

Here’s one I realized today while perusing Imeem.

And here is the more obvious one… he made a classic out of a classic.

Logs sent me a link to a playlist called The Best Hip-Hop Original Samples on Imeem.  Check it out if you’re into that stuff.

I made this up in my head and cooked it up last night.  The idea came from different things I’ve cooked or eaten in the past combined with what I had in the fridge and freezer.

rolled chicken and orzo

First I rolled up some pounded chicken breast with prosciutto, spinach and cheese.  I tied it up with bucher’s twine.  Then I seared it on all sides in some rosemary and garlic infused butter and olive oil.

I deglazed the pan with some chicken stock and cooked the rolled chicken with some orzo, tomatoes and more rosemary.

It always feels good when everybody is fighting for the leftovers.

I was reading one of my favorite blogs Nori Yaro and just had to share a picture that reminded me that the R32 Skyline is and will always be my favorite car.  One day I’ll own one… I don’t know how because they always seem to be getting seized by the government… but I will, somehow.noriyaro green r32

It’s so easy to make one look good.  Just make sure it has a GT-R face and you’re done.

Road Ragin’

So Nadine is at the police station right now because some road raging guy decided to get out of his car, yell at Nadine with full swear mode on, and then kick the driver’s side door.  All this while Kristy was in the passenger seat!!

Seriously people, what’s wrong with your world that you feel the need to get into fights over the way others drive?  At what point do you realize that all the honking and yelling and throwing things is just a little overboard?  Is it worth putting your life in danger just so that you can tell the other person you got cut off?

People get too worked up.

Why the Hate

I’ve been reading Roger Ebert’s blog for a while now.  His blog is a breath of fresh air because it’s got substance and it makes me think.  He’s a very intelligent, eloquent person and I think he is a good person as well.

I just read one of his entries where he addresses the crazy hateful things some people are saying about Obama.

In the past few years of my life I’ve often wondered about certain people who I thought were my friends and later found out they were not.  I don’t want to get into specifics but I’m really glad he wrote that article.  The following except helped me gain some perspective where he pretty much describes some of those people to the T:

… conspiracy theories themselves have an addictive quality. They appeal to a personality type. Many of those who take nourishment from them have, I suspect, a bitter resentment against authority. They don’t want anyone telling them what to do. They’re defiant. Some of them may have been the victims of child abuse. Anyone who is in power is lying to them for evil motives. Nothing they learn from the mainstream media can be trusted. Some people may think they’re so smart — but these conspiracy insiders know the real story. They learn it from each other, they embellish it, they pass it around, they “document” it with invented connections, they bond among themselves, and they live in a closed system that seems to validate them.

Amen, brother!

Brian McKnight sang “If This World Were Mine” to Nadine a couple days ago for our anniversary.

Here it is!

You can listen to other dedications he’s done on The Wave’s website.
