Last weekend’s drifting exhibition at Rim of the World Rally was one of my favorite drifting experiences ever! Being the first exhibition where I was actually somewhat in control, I realized how much more rganized it should have been, but I learned a lot, and I know what to do to make an exhibition a lot better, if I’m ever invited to do another one.

Man, it was super super hectic the night before… It was my birthday as well as Richard’s, but I didn’t really get to celebrate it because Nadine’s car was having tuning issues, and we ran back and forth to Blast Racing in Gardena twice! We got home around 2:30 AM… and then I had to take wheels and a seat out of my sileighty for Alex to use… and then I also had to work with Will @ Nitro 2 Go for Alex’s stickers. At about 4AM I called Richard and found out that he just finished too… We went to bed and slept in a little, since we didn’t have to be at Lancaster until noon.

We got to the track and goofed off as usual… getting the cars ready, BSing with Mark Slide Squad, Marc, Alex, and Nadine… and then time came to set up the track. Since I help Taka with the Drift Day tracks and Charlie with his Just Drift tracks, I knew where not to put certain corners. In the end, it didn’t really matter though, since the coned off course was totally destroyed!

Anyway, I had a really great time… drifting with my friends, interacting with the crowd and getting their reactions… giving people rides… it was great, specially considering that most of the crowd never saw drifting before. One of the kids I gave a ride to, was shaking his legs uncontrollably while I was drifting. He was yelling and so excited. Another lady I gave a ride to was screaming and giggling the whole time… man… experiencing that was totally crazy. It’s just little ol me! Nothing to get all crazy about!

There were some cones laid out as a boundary. We weren’t supposed to drift past that boundary for spectator safety. So instead I was drifting right up next to me while giving a thumbs up to the crowd. It was the first time I’ve been able to hear crowd reaction while drifting… usually Formula D events are so far from the crowd, it’s hard to hear anything. But this time was much easier to see them having fun while I was having fun. Actually a bunch of camera guys came right up to the line of cones that I was playing with. I’m not sure if they were stupid, didn’t care for their lives, or maybe they thought I was good enough to trust with their lives. Anyway, I did it over and over and over again… until on one run, I drifted right by them and got too close to the cones just past them and took out like 5 of them. Hahaha! The camera men were nowhere to be seen after that!

It was so much fun… I can’t wait to do it again.

Thank you Richard for letting me use your car! Thank you for taking care of all that drama too! I owe you too much…

Well for some reason all 3 of our cars have had problems this week. What the heck! Alex’s car spun a rod bearing last week, busted a turbo coolant line… Nadine’s car experienced an electrical short and burned her wiring harness right before getting tuned at Blast… and the Yellow Thing is not ready!

Well, Marco from SR20Store.com was super awesome and he replaced the rod bearing… and with the help of Ken Flores, also found and fixed Nadine’s short. Richard is letting me borrow JDM Rice II for the demo, and Marc made 2 tire trips for Alex and I… we have awesome friends, and now the drama is all over! We just need to pick up Nadine’s car from Blast, and everything is set!

Mark Hutchinson is going to be joining us for the demo, and I’m pretty excited… Man, I remember back in the day like in 1999 when I saw drifting footage and thought Mark was awesome at drifting. Now we’re going to be doing demo together! Anyway, it will be cool to see all my buddies drifting all around me… I can’t wait!

If you aren’t doing anything this Saturday come out and watch us!!! If you’re a personal friend of mine, bring your helmet!!!!! Go here for more info! 6:30 PM!!!
Rim of the World Rally

Oh yeah, it’s my birthday today! And Richard’s too! Happy birthday to us!

Yeah okay! So Nadine, Alex, and I are way busy getting ready for the Rim of the World Rally drifting demo this weekend in Lancaster… last weekend we did a little practicing, although Alex had car problems, and I was practicing in my sileighty instead of the Yellow Thing.

Bad news… I just found out that Yellow Thing won’t be ready for this weekend’s demo! Ahhh! Luckily enough, Richard is letting me use JDM Rice 2 (I am going to call it Pink Thing) for the demo… Richard! Thank you so much!!!

Nadine is getting her car tuned at Blast… it will be running way better and with more power! I can’t wait… my birthday is coming up this Friday, and I don’t even feel like I have time to celebrate! I mean… it’s just a day… I guess I can celebrate any day I want to, especially if it’s more convenient!

Hmmmmm… drifting…. drool….

Last weekend, I was at another Just Drift event at the Balcony… only this time I wasn’t there for instruction, I was there for driving! It was way fun driving with Nadine and Alex. I got to drive Henry’s FC… man… that thing is tough to drive. Power at the high RPM ranges, no power steering, and no traction! It was really hard to keep the car where I wanted it, because it always seemed a little out of control. I give Henry a lot of respect for being so consistent in that thing!

There’s something funny about my car… when I am on boost for long periods of time, the boost just dies completely off. Then I give it a second to calm down, and the boost is there again. I’m not sure why it does it, but the only thing right now that makes sense to me is that maybe the actuator is getting weak?

Anyway, doing donuts with Nadine and Alex was a lot of fun… this is what drifting is all about! Drifting along side your friends… it’s awesome.

On Sunday we had a BBQ for my buddy Brent’s birthday. It’s been a while since we BBQed! I had such a blast… I really want to start BBQing again. Good times, good times.

Nadine, Noelle, Kat, Ryan, and I drove up to Nor Cal last weekend for Drift Day 1. I had way a lot of fun… the guys up there were hella cool and there was hella drifting going on that day! Dean was driving his brother’s car, which had no oil in it, and there was hella rod knock when I was driving it. TJ was super super nice and let me drive his car all day long and I hella kicked the clutch, and his car hella kicked my butt. Seriously… I was being aggressive with the car, but the thing bit back! At the end of the day, my arms were hurting, and TJ stubbed his finger really bad. I’m not sure why he needed his right thumb to work, but apparently, he was sad about it. It was a good day… there was one run where I swear that I really used the max potential of the car and the course and it felt really really good.

Thanks to all the guys up there who asked for help and made my day worth while. I need to take road trips more often!

So Steve was really nice and helped me to take off ALL the stickers from my car. He also helped me wax it, after pointing out how totally destroyed my paint was. After running my finger across his car’s paint, yeah… I started to feel bad. Especially considering that my car was “recently” painted in 2000!

So after spending a half day with my car it’s back to “normal” with no stickers… it’s a pretty big shock! I drove the car to the supermarket and as I was walking back to my car I had flashbacks from way back when nobody knew what the heck my car was and what drifting was. It was a nice feeling to be able to drive somewhere without getting mass attention from everybody around me. Thanks for the help Steve!

Naoki and Will from Nitro 2 Go energy drinks got together and asked me if I wanted to be a demo driver for Rim of the World Rally on May 7th! I’m so excited… I can’t wait to get back into my racing suit and into the Yellow Thing so that I can throw up some smoke and make some noise. The best part is, Nadine and hopefully Ching Chong Alex will be there with me! I’m already choreographing in my head MUAHAHAH. I’m going to miss round 1 and round 2 of formula D and it’s been kinda depressing me, but this will be good and it’s going to be way more fun than competing, I think.

Picture of my car without the stickers!
